Welcome!

The Pequannock Township School District, in partnership with the community, is committed to providing appropriate educational opportunities for the development of the intellectual, social, cultural and emotional growth of all students.

The Board of Education, school administration, and staff are dedicated to maintaining a challenging educational program that addresses the individual needs of all students in a positive and safe learning environment. Dynamic curriculum development, upgrades in facilities and technology, and a variety of extra-curricular activities combine to provide for differences in student interests and abilities across a comprehensive K-12 program of studies.

Our district vision statement, “EDUCATING EVERY STUDENT – EVERY DAY – IN EVERY WAY”, articulates our desire to provide an appropriate and balanced educational experience for each and every student.  In order to accomplish this vision, we offer a wide variety of academic opportunities as well as a full slate of activities and athletics to encourage participation in all of our schools.  Coupled with our academic and activities programs is a district commitment to Character Education.  Each of our schools has programs which focus on the development of good character at an age appropriate level.  Our middle school was recognized as a New Jersey School of Character as well as a National Finalist School of Character in 2006.  North Boulevard Elementary School has been recognized as an Honorable Mention entrant in the New Jersey School of Character Program in 2011.

The pursuit of excellence in our schools is a never-ending process.  We continue to study our curriculum and we are currently in the process of implementing new programs in Mathematics and Middle School Science.  We are also working to build our program around the new “Common Core Standards” with the goal of leading our students to mastery of content rather than just exposure.  We are working to implement a new formative testing program called Link-It which will provide benchmark tests connected to the state curriculum standards and allow for tracking of student progress not only in the state tests but also using other measures of student performance.  We  are one of the first New Jersey districts to implement this program.

We are also working to improve our educational facilities across the district.  In September 2008, voters approved a bond referendum allowing us to make significant improvements at the high school and the middle school.  These improvements included a renovated auditorium, music rooms, and media center at the high school as well as significant improvements in infrastructure a each school.  In the summer of 2011, we have embarked on a field improvement plan to ultimately improve the field areas at all of our schools.  We have also replaced the boilers at SJG School, the bleachers and the stage lighting controls at PV School, as well as fire protection work in the stairwells in PV and SJG schools.  These additional facilities upgrades will definitely improve the educational environment at our schools.

As you can see, the Pequannock Township Public Schools are on the move toward higher student achievement, active learning, greater student participation, and better and safer facilities. We are excited about the future of our schools and the success of our students. Feel free to explore our web site to find out more about these and other programs in our individual schools. We look forward to your involvement in making our schools second to none in New Jersey!
