The Department of Special Education provides quality education services to students who are disabled and/or have special needs. Services are designed in the context of “least restrictive environment” and include a continuum of placement options such as regular class placements with support, resource centers, self-contained classrooms and specialized placements.
Specialized services and placements are available to students to meet their individual needs. Programs are assessed on an ongoing basis as needs change. The Pequannock Township School District currently offers special programs for preschool-handicapped, multi-handicapped, learning disabled and children with autism as well as resource centers within its schools. Programs and services are also provided to encourage participation within regular education classrooms.
Children Aged 3-5 With Disabilities
The school district proactively seeks out community children between the ages of three and five who may have disabilities. Evaluation services and placement opportunities are available for eligible children. To refer a child for evaluation, please write to:

Referral for Special Education Services
A parent or guardian of a child in the district may request a referral to the child study team by contacting the building principal or writing to the Director of Special Services at the Office of Special Services.
Pequannock Township Parents With Educational Concern (PPEC)
PPEC works to make a difference in the lives of all children with special needs. Its goal is to promote the welfare of the special education student by providing parents with the tools and information they need to be more effective advocates for their children. Each year PPEC offers a series of seminars to help parents gain knowledge about their child’s disability, learn more about the services and programs available to child, and understand changing special education laws and answer questions. PPEC meeting dates are listed in the calendar.
