Seventh grade can often be the most challenging year for middle school students. They have transitioned into middle school and now expectations for student achievement are expanding. This is the year students feel overwhelmed by assignments and projects. Seventh grade students begin to experience long-term assignments. They must practice time-management skills. These challenges are age-appropriate and provide important foundations for high school success.
The following supplies are suggested, not required:
- Students can choose to purchase a one-subject notebook for every core class (4).To ensure continuity, continuing the color coding of individual, one subject notebooks will help seventh graders continue developing organizational skills. RED notebook signifies Math class. GREEN notebook signifies Language Arts class. A YELLOW notebook is used for Social Studies. A BLUE notebook is used for Science.
- OR seventh graders can opt to purchase a binder that has a section for each class (4), and use notebook paper and dividers. Their choice!
- Sharpened #2, good quality pencils. They are required for every core class.
- A folder for each class (4), with an additional folder for science (5 total) or an accordion folder if that is preferred by the student. Again, it may be helpful to use the colors identified above to assist organizational skills.
- Hand pencil sharpener
- Flash drive (strongly suggested - can be purchased at any Staples or Computer Store)
- Blue and/or black pens – for Social Studies and English specifically
- Two spiral-bound graph notebooks for Math
