Food Allergies
Food allergies continue to be a growing concern in schools. Food allergic children who are perfectly normal and healthy in every other way must be aware of every single bite they consume or contact. Otherwise, they risk suffering a severe or even life threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis. It is our policy to make the safety and well-being of our students a top priority and therefore a major health issue such as this one must be taken seriously.
Several students in our school have severe food allergies, including allergies to peanut-based foods, tree nuts, milk-based products, poultry and certain fruits, etc. A child with severe food allergies can suffer a reaction merely by touching these foods on the desk, table or the container on which they rested. Please refer to the letter that was sent home on the first day of school. As always if you have any questions, please visit or call the Health Office.
