Reporting Absences
If you do not want to get a call from our own "Inspector Clouseau," it is important that you call school when your child will be absent or late. It would also be helpful if you let us know why your child is absent, as this allows us to keep track of communicable diseases. This also gives us a "heads up" on what to look for when a child comes to the health office.
The main office is open after 8 am; you may also leave a message on the school answering machine before then. The main office number is 973.305.5615 and the health office is 973.305.5618.
When your child is home ill, it is important that they remain home until they are temperature free. If your child has been diagnosed with conjunctivitis (also known as pink eye) or strep throat, the New Jersey State Health Code requires that they are on medication for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Students with lice/nits must be lice free before they may return to school. Even though many children have been vaccinated for varcella, (also know as chicken pox), there is always the risk of exposure. If your child does contract chicken pox all their scabs must be dry before returning to school. Students in either of the above situations must come to the health office with a parent before being allowed to return to class.
