Library Media Center

 

AUTHOR VISIT NEWS! Our author visit with children's book author and illustrator Adam Gustavson has been rescheduled. Mr. Gustavson will be visiting SJG on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. He will spend the day with our students and teachers, presenting programs about his books and illustrations. Many thanks to our HSA for sponsoring Mr. Gustavson's visit to SJG.

Our Library Media Center is automated using the Athena library software program. Over 10,000 items in our media center can be accessed through any computer here at SJG! All Accelerated Reader book titles have special labels to make it easier for students to locate these wonderful books. We also have indicated the Lexile number of all books with a Lexile level. Our students love our library media center and enjoy lots of great books!

 

We are very fortunate to have the support of our library volunteers. The volunteers help our students during their book exchange time. Each month, we have over fifty volunteers helping in the SJG Media Center!

 

Our Library Media Center is available each day for students to participate in the ‘Library Lunch' program during recess time. Children use this time for independent reading and studying. Students may also use our Accelerated Reader program. It's a great time to enjoy good books!

 

Students have been listening to books by Caldecott award winning illustrators; favorite authors; and favorite fairy tales and folklore. They have also been learning about the different sections of our media center and the many different types of materials available to them.

 

Children will also see many new and exciting books and media that have been added to our collection. In addition, we have received more great new books from our SJG Home and School Association! We have received lots of great easy and fiction titles, many wonderful new nonfiction books, and much more!
