Pequannock Township High School (PTHS) has once again been recognized among New Jersey’s top high schools, climbing to No. 81 in the state in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings released this week.

The new ranking represents a significant jump for PTHS, which was ranked No. 105 in the 2025  rankings. Breaking the data down further, PTHS is ranked No. 52 among traditional high schools and ranked No. 8 overall in Morris County.

The recognition reflects the continued academic growth, commitment, and achievement of Pequannock Township High School students and staff. While rankings provide one measure of a school’s performance, the greatest significance lies in the work taking place every day in classrooms, activities, athletic programs, and throughout the school community.

“While we are certainly proud to see Pequannock Township High School move from No. 105 to No. 81 in New Jersey, we view this recognition as a reflection of something much bigger than a number,” said Principal Richard Hayzler. “It represents the dedication of our students who challenge themselves, the commitment of our teachers and staff who continually look for ways to improve teaching and learning, and the support of our families and community.” 

The U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings evaluate public vocational and traditional high schools using multiple measures of academic performance and college readiness, among other factors. U.S. News has described the rankings as a way for families to compare schools based on indicators including academic achievement, graduation outcomes, and preparation for students beyond high school.

The latest ranking provides another point of Golden Panther Pride for the Pequannock Township school community as the district begins a new academic year.
